What is African Mango and Why the Fuss about African Mango Diet pills?

African Mango Plus has received a lot of attention in diet reviews so in our African Mango plus review we will endeavour to present as balanced a review of this recently touted weight loss product as we can.

The official African Mango website promises you will lose at least 12 pounds in your first 28 days by taking the African Mango Challenge.

You can test this out for yourself HERE.

The African mango tree is found throughout the tropical forests of Africa and is also cultivated on farms in central and western Africa. The tree grows to between 10 to 40 metres in height and has a flared base.  It has unique seeds which the natives of Cameroon (where this tree grows) call “Dikka nuts.”
Apparently for hundreds of years they used it for its substantial medical benefits including reducing obesity and regulating blood sugar and treating infections.

Why Did African Mango pills become popular?

The African Mango diet pills became very popular shortly after being mentioned on the Dr Oz show in the  U.S.  He stated that the african mango pills had proven to be effective when used as a supplement during weight loss programs. (Dr Oz,of course,is famous for his appearances on “Oprah” prior to getting his own show).  Many African mango reviews appeared as a result on the Internet.  Check out this news article on Dr Oz’s comments.

Clinical Studies on African Mango Diet pills

A study done on over 100 people at the University of Yaounde in the Cameroon , published in the journal of “Lipids in Health and Disease.” split up to groups into a group taking a placebo and the rest African Mango.  The study reported that those taking the African Mango had “significant improvements in body weight, body fat, and waist circumference. African Mango (Irvingia Gabonensis) administered 150 mg twice daily before meals to overweight and/or obese human volunteers favorably impacts body weight and a variety of parameters characteristic of the metabolic syndrome.”

The non-placebo takers experienced an average weight loss of 12.5 kilograms.(27.5 lbs).  And it was  reported that they reported a simultaneous drop in “bad” LDL cholesterol and blood-sugar levels.

What can African Mango Diet Pills do for me?

In the last couple of years, there have been many clinical studies done on African Mango, and these have confirmed that it can be of a great help in weight loss, improve cholesterol levels, LDL and in stabilizing glucose levels.

In one scientific study it was revealed that African Mango extract contributed to:

  • Weight loss of 28.1lbs, compared to 1.5lbs that was lost in the placebo group
  • Body fat reduction by 6.3%

There are several properties in African mango extract which can potentially inhibit obesity-for example-it demonstrates an “inhibitory effect” on an enzyme known as glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase which is involved in turning glucose to stored fat;the same study shows that the weight loss properties of irvingia gabonensis has been put forward because of its ability to increase the amount of Leptin in the bloodstream, a substance which regulates the metabolism and inhibits the appetite. (Oben JE, Ngondi JL, Blum K. Inhibition of Irvingia gabonensis seed extract (OB131) on adipogenesis as mediated via down regulation of the PPARgamma and leptin genes and up-regulation of the adiponectin gene. Lipids Health Dis . 2008;7:44.)

How does African Mango Extract interact with Drugs?

There is not a huge amount of information available on how African mango extract interacts with drugs.  In theory if you have side effects from your medications for diabetes and high cholesterol then these may be increased or have similar effects if you are taking African mango extract.

African Mango plus Review-Conclusion

African Mango has many good points and certainly seems to have many benefits for weight loss without any major health scares -at least any we have seen reported.  We have not been able to ascertain if there are multiple manufacturers of supplements which feature this ingredient. The manufacturer that we discovered online offers it at a relatively low price. Some of the claims that you can lose weight without changing your lifestyle sound great but we would recommend that if you take this pill you should do it a) after getting your own doctor’s advice  b) take it in combination with exercise and something like the Diet Solution (or take the Diet solution as soon as you are beginning to reach the end of your pills) so that you have an ongoing weight loss strategy. We say this because we note some customers of African Mango plus seem to have no strategy beyond taking the pills and some start to put the weight straight back on. We will keep watching news on this and other African mango reviews and diet pills that work to see if to see if further studies reveal anything new.

A real customer (misty) says:

“I would say the primary benefit of African Mango is that it is free of stimulants! I’ve tried so many different caffeine products, and they always cause jitters and side effects. But I never lose a pound. I’ve tried stimulant-free options too, and it’s always the same old story. I used to wonder why I was taking diet pills at all. But with all of the research on African Mango, I decided to give it one more try. I read some research saying that test subjects only took 150mg which is far from being a horse pill, and every product I found using African Mango seemed to have it! So I chose the cheapest one. 15 pounds later and still going strong, I finally found the ingredient I guess for me.”
